I'm currently assembling a Tower Hobbies SBach Sbach 3D and since I've never done this before, I was wondering about installing the CA hinges. The instruction manual Build Instructions suggest adding several drops of CA on the hinges once they are in place. However, I was wondering, can I glue the CA hjnges into one side of the elevator at one time, and the other side later, or does the CA stiffen the whole hinge making a two part process unworkable.

CA is a type of glue. You can get it in different viscosity types. Ie. thin CA or medium CA.
Thin CA is like water and will get into small areas like the very small spaces between hing and the wing.
You can set the wing and hing then add thin CA and it will seep into hing and wing area and make the bond.
Medium CA is thicker and can be used to fill small gaps or cracks.

Ok good to know. Thank you. I thought they were called CA hinges because of the glue used to set them. I was hoping that if I can work on one component at attime there would be less chance of getting CA where I don’t want to get it.

When using ca glues it is a good idea to Put a slow blowing fan behind yourself. The fumes are very bad for your nasal passage. It gives me a runny nose and makes me sneeze. I also wear a spray mask now.

you have to install the control surfaces all at once ,once the ca touches the hinge it wicks into the hole hinge the fuzz on the hinge sucks up the ca and swells and hardens that's how the hinge holds firmly in the wood if you glue one half of the hinge it will be hard to it into the hinge slot and the ca will not wick into the hinge properly
